I work with teens, young adults, and parents facing challenges such as anxiety, panic, perfectionism, low motivation, emotional overwhelm, school pressure, identity struggles, social anxiety, and family conflict. Teens may feel stuck, unsure of themselves, or overwhelmed by unpleasant emotions. Parents often want support in understanding their teen, reducing tension at home, and improving communication and connection.

My approach is warm, practical, and evidence-based. I use CBT, ACT, exposure work and self-compassion strategies. I am also completing specialized training in DBT for teens, treatment for self-injury, and EFFT to support both teens and families effectively.

Therapy is designed to help teens build confidence, manage emotions, and navigate challenges, while supporting parents in creating understanding, calm, and connection at home.

I’m Maryam—a Registered Social Worker (MSW) and psychotherapist with over twenty years of experience in the mental health field. My journey as a therapist has been shaped by a deep passion for helping individuals move through trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression so they can shift from simply surviving to living as their truest, most authentic selves.

I view therapy as a gradual, transformative process—one that unfolds within a safe, trusting, and supportive therapeutic relationship. With my personal and professional experiences, and a relatable approach, you and I can collaborate to improve your mental health. My aim is to empower you and teach you to be your own therapist! I am a mother, daughter and an immigrant, as well. My intersectionality has made me non- judgmental, empathic and sensitive to others’ needs. I have diverse experience in helping clients with anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, eating disorders, trauma, grief, relationship problems, new immigrant struggles, and motor vehicle accident and related trauma, to name a few.
